What you'll need:

  • Air-dry clay
  • The coloring page with fruit figures (download the document here and print)
  • Scissors
  • Rolling pin or clay roller
  • Skewer or straw (for the hole in the ornament)
  • Water and a bowl (for smoothing)
  • Paint and brushes
  • Marker (for details or faces)
  • Varnish (optional, for a glossy finish)
  • Strings or ribbons

All materials can also be found in the Congé Bricolé webshop.

How to make the ornaments:

1. Preparation

Download and print the coloring page with fruit figures and carefully cut out the shapes. These will be your templates, from Freddie to Lola and Gina: all ready to come to life!

2. Rolling

Take a piece of air-dry clay and roll it out with a rolling pin to a nice, even slab.

3. Pressing and cutting out

Place your cut-out fruit figures on the clay. Gently press them down and carefully cut out the shapes with a knife or clay tools.

4. Finishing

Dip your finger in the bowl of water and use your wet finger to smooth the edges of the clay figures. This will give them a beautifully soft, rounded shape.

5. Making a hole

Puncture a small hole at the top of each figure with a skewer or straw. This is where the string will go to hang them, so don't make the hole too small.

6. Drying

Place your fruity figures on a flat surface and let them dry thoroughly. This usually takes one to two days, depending on the thickness of the clay.

7. Painting and decorating

Then it's time to add color to your fruity gang! Paint Robby, Mimi, Freddie, Lola, and all the other friends in cheerful colors and give them a face or funny details with a marker or thin brush.

8. Varnishing (optional)

Do you want your artworks to last extra long and get a beautiful shine? Then finish them with a layer of varnish once the paint is dry.

9. Hanging!

Finally, thread a ribbon or string through the hole and hang your fruity figures in the Christmas tree, in front of the window, or wrap one of our books and attach them to your gift.

A little color, a little clay, and before you know it, you'll have a BROCKTASTIC Christmas tree this year! 🎄✨
